The front (north) facade of Sharon Church was modified after 1865 with the addition of the present bell tower. Although the popularity of the Greek Revival style was waning, the Romanesque style of the bell tower is accentuated with simple corner boards replete with small capital details near the roof line that complement the original Doric pilasters of the original building. The bell tower is similar in design to the 1868 bell tower of the former Universalist-Unitarian church (now Baci's Ristorante) several blocks west of Sharon Church. The belfry of the Sharon Church bell tower foreshadows the emerging Italianate architectural style which was coming into favor after the end of the Civil War.
