Rose of Sharon

The rose that is used throughout the stained glass in the sanctuary has special significance for our congregation. At the time of its original dedication, November 5, 1855, the name “Rose of Sharon” was given to it.

It was derived from the old hymn, “Jesus, Rose of Sharon.” Although different than the Rose of Sharon bush, “The Rose of Sharon is Real” nonetheless, it is the symbol of our church.
